Professional surfer and local grappler Nicholas “Dre” Stewart recently won the Tobago Pro Surf Contest in Mt. Irvine, Tobago. The Pleasant Prospect resident who also cross trains in mixed martial arts, won his second title at his hometown break previously winning the Cocrico Pro Surf Contest in 2008. In what was the largest contest for the year offered world class surf which brought out the best surfers the islands had to offer, the final featured reigning champion Adrian De Silva top Trinidad surfer Jason Apparicio and Australian Cheyne Jobson.The Tobagonian known as Dre was able to out maneuver his opponents to a first place finish. “I would like to thank my sponsors Martinez Surf Board, Snugg wetsuits, Rough House and the Tobago House of Assembly for all their support and special shout out to Tracey Davidson, Mr. Beckles and  Jomo Pitt for all their support…” Dre was quoted as saying in his victory speech.
