NAGA Pan-Ams to be held in a similar competition area.

Rough House mixed martial arts gym will be sending its international grappling team to Florida with the help of Kee-Chanona Ltd. to compete at the North American Grappling Association (NAGA) Pan American Championships on 6th December in Lakeland, Fl. Team members include Matthew Vilain (Captain), Brandon La Croix, Ryan Sooknarine, Randy Sooknarine, Mudassar Karamath and Adam De Silva (Manager/Coach).

This will be the second team Rough House has sent to represent Trinidad and Tobago at international competition with four out of the five competitors between the ages of 16-19. Rough House have been hosting local competitions for three years, with a total seven to date and have developed the sport thru locally hosted tournaments to a point where athletes are able to compete successfully internationally. The 2013 grappling team won 3 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze at the US Open in Orlando Florida with a five member team. Team captain Matthew Vilain will be the only member rejoining the team, his experience will be an asset as these championships are expected to be largest and most competitive tournament attended to date.

Many of the athletes on the team have reached the pinnacle of the sport locally and their goal now is to test their skills internationally to continue their growth as grapplers and future mixed martial artists of Trinidad and Tobago. This is a new sport to Trinidad and Tobago but an essential aspect of mixed martial arts. The country as a whole has embraced this new sport and as such has opened new opportunities for our young talented athletes to perform and grow globally.
