Trinbagoian fighters went 3-0 at Bahamas Open Martial Arts Championship Cage Fights II (BOMAC II) winning all their Mixed Martial Artd bouts in convincing manner scoring two wins by TKO and one by judges decision. Omar Smith (2-0) hailing from St. James fighting out of Rough House opened the night for the T&T MMA fighters defeating his Bahamian opponent (3-1) forcing the referee stop stop their mixed martial arts bout 46 seconds into the first round. After landing several strikes to the body and head kicks, the ref had no choice to step in and protect the fighter after he lost his mouth guard and turned his back while continuing to absorb strikes. Arima resident Joash Walkins (3-1) of RSC bounced back from his first defeat earlier in the year to score an impressive decision win over his American opponent. Walkins used strong submission defence, and superior wrestling to control his opponent throughout the match, giving the judges little choice but to award him the decision(video), his teammate Jeremy Rodulfo (2-0) had an early night after dropping his opponent with a solid hook and following it up with strikes to his grounded opponent ending the fight 3:00 into the first round.(video)
Smith will be heading to Barbados next with the goal of winning the Caribbean Fight League Feather Weight MMA Title scheduled for October 23rd Bridgetown, Barbados. He will be joined by fellow team-mates Dwayne Hinds competing for the Caribbean Light Heavyweight Grappling Title, Brandon La Croix will be contesting the the MMA Welterweight Title and Mudassar Karamath contender for the Lightweight Grappling Title. The team will be competing against the current reigning champions training out of Martinique and France. The tournament is also set to feature a seminar hosted by UFC fighter and former Strikeforce Champion Nick Diaz.
