RHAGE Mixed Martial Arts
(Post Event)

RHAGE Promotions hosted its first Mixed Martial Arts event at Banquet and Conference Center at The Cascadia Hotel on Saturday 26th May 2018. The event featured fighters from Jamaica, Guyana, Martinique, Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago.

In the main event Omar Smith defeated Shiaeine Blake of Jamaica 2:40sec into the first round. After catching a powerful round kick from Blake, Smith was able to secure a single leg takedown early into the round landing in Blake’s guard. The Jamaican was quick to recover and get back to his feet but was unable to disengage from the clench allowing the Trinbagonian to transition to a body clench and forcefully drag the Jamaican back to the ground where Smith was able to get to eventually transition to full mount where he continued has barrage of punches eventually knocking out his opponent midway through the first round.

The co-main event hosted an intense contest between welterweights Yohann Dupe of Martinique and Brandon La Croix of Trinidad and Tobago. Dupe came out his corner throwing heavy hands from the start catching his Caribbean counterpart off guard, the aggressive strategy paid off when a gash was opened on La Croix’s forehead which grew larger as the round progressed. La Croix was able to show heart and keep his composure after his opponent’s early blitz eventually finding his timing and landing a huge counterpunch, dropping his opponent and quickly following up with some ground and pound. Dupe chin proved to be strong as he was able to recover and defend himself from any further damage. The round ended with La Croix looking for the finish from top position and Dupe doing a good job of defending himself. During the rest the doctor was asked to check on the athletes where the fight was stopped due to the cut sustained earlier which had grown considerably throughout the round, Dupe winner by TKO.

Also on the the main card Bryan Bohouri of Martinique secured an ankle lock late into the the first round on his Trinidadian rival Ken Bishop. After securing several takedowns on the hard hitting Bishop the referee was forced to reset the heavyweight fighters after several warnings for illegal headbuts from the Martinican, the grappling of the Bohouri proved to be the deciding factor after securing another takedown and quickly transitioning to an ankle lock and foring the tapout.

Making his MMA debut at 18 years old featherweight Donnel Phillip defeated current CUFF champion Kadaine Hope by unanimous decision using solid kickboxing combinations and defending several takedowns attempts to get the nod from all three judges. The two Trinidadians fighters displayed great technical ability as well as conditioning throughout the three rounds.

Guyanese fighter Corwin D’Anjou improved upon his record picking up a win against Jamaican Alrick Wanliss ending the fight early into the first round. D’Anjou was able to get to the back of the Jamaican and locked on a quick rear choke to get the submission victory.

Debut fighters Juval Fortune and Nakia Anderson came out swinging with both fighters throwing heavy punches from the start of the bell. After several solid exchanges of punches the Trinidadian fighter was able to connect with a cracking hook and quickly followed up with punches to the downed Jamaican scoring the knockout victory early into the first round.

The prelims featured two kickboxing exhibition matches. Caribbean Boxing Champion Tianna Guy displayed her crisp boxing skills against rising kickboxing talent Randar Ragbir. Kendell Phillip of Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuelan Emiliano Godoy also got a feel for the cage in an exciting display of striking skills.
