The athletes all of whom have been training between 18months – 3 years had a team of coaches which included Dwayne Hinds, Rich Acosta, Rondell Benjamin, Reinaldo Novoa and Adam De Silva. All athletes were committed to over 18 hours of training per week and consisted of technical drills, strength training and sparring for an intense 6 week training camp in a sport which combines aspects of Olympic Style Wrestling, Judo and Brazilian Jujitsu. Several of the athletes will be looking to make the transition to MMA in the coming year while others will continue to pursue the pinnacles of the sport with the goal of one day winning the Abu Dhabi Combat Championships and the IBJJF World Championships. The local 2015 season will begin in south Trinidad with Southern Warriors Mixed Martial Arts hosting the first competition of the year in February with several others planned by various gyms throughout the year.
